Electric Control Valve Selection

Specify an electric control valve package for remote on-off isolation or reliable modulating process control.

An electric control valve is selected from the complete process duty rather than the valve size alone. The valve body, trim, actuator output, travel, control signal, feedback and power supply must work together to achieve stable control and the required shutoff performance.

For a technical review: send the valve data sheet or drawing, medium, pressure, temperature, flow requirement, supply voltage, required control signal and requested fail action.

1. Define the control duty

On-off control

Use for defined open/close operation. State operating time, cycle frequency, limit switches, manual override and required action on loss of supply.

Modulating control

Use when the valve must position proportionally for flow, pressure, level or temperature regulation. State the command signal and feedback requirement.

Valve mechanics

For linear valves confirm stroke and thrust; for rotary valves confirm break, running and seating torque plus the mounting interface.

2. Control signals and position feedback

Selection itemTypical project input
SupplyVoltage, phase, frequency, enclosure rating and cable-entry requirement.
Modulating signal4–20 mA, 0–10 V, fieldbus or a project-specified control interface.
FeedbackValve position feedback, open/close indication, torque alarm or local control status.
Safety actionFail closed, fail open, fail in place or another project-approved action.

3. Match the valve, trim and actuator

For regulating service, provide the required flow range, pressure drop, medium characteristics and acceptable leakage or shutoff class. These conditions influence valve type, trim and the output required from the electric actuator. Confirm duty cycle and starts per hour so heat dissipation and actuator life can be reviewed.

4. Existing or customer-specified actuator models

If the project references Rotork, AUMA, SAMSON or another actuator model, provide the nameplate, valve interface, required travel or torque, voltage, command signal and feedback details. Jinkon can assess integration compatibility before quotation.

Rotork, AUMA and SAMSON are third-party trademarks. Their mention describes customer-specified or replacement requirements only and does not indicate affiliation or authorized distribution.
