Valve Certification & Export Documentation

A practical RFQ checklist for marine, offshore and industrial valve projects.

For project valve procurement, documentation is part of the technical scope—not an afterthought. Providing the required certificates, drawings, material information and inspection plan at RFQ stage helps align the product configuration, delivery schedule and order documents.

Important: requirements such as class documentation, third-party inspection, test records and material certificates must be specified before quotation. They are reviewed against the selected product and confirmed order scope.

1. Start with the application and valve data

Service conditions

State medium, pressure, temperature, line size, connection standard and installation duty.

Valve configuration

Identify valve type, body and trim material, seat or seal, actuation, control signal and fail action.

Project requirements

Provide drawings, specification, line list, inspection request, vessel/project reference and delivery destination.

2. Typical documentation to clarify

Document or activityWhat to confirm before quotation
Datasheet and drawingTag number, dimensions, face-to-face, connection, material, actuation and revision requirement.
Material and markingRequired material grade, traceability scope, nameplate language and project marking.
Inspection and testingApplicable pressure test, functional test, witness or hold point, and inspection party.
Certificates and project documentsExact requested certificate or class/documentation scope, issuing party and submission timing.
Packing and export deliveryPreservation, packing type, labels, destination, Incoterm and delivery date.

3. Marine and offshore projects

Marine projects commonly require more detailed coordination because the valve must match vessel systems, corrosion conditions, project specifications and document-control procedures. Send the valve schedule or technical specification with the exact documentation request. Jinkon can review the requested scope for the selected valve package before quotation.

4. Avoid common RFQ delays
